The M49/57 is a unique SMG that was developed by Yugoslavia in the 1950s. It was created by taking the best design aspects of the Soviet PPSH-41 and improving upon them. As a result, the M49/57 is a reliable and effective weapon that is prized by collectors and enthusiasts of the Yugo Wars. It still uses PPSH-41 drum and stick magazines and can be restored with semi-automatic parts available from other vendors.
The M49/57 fires the powerful 7.62x25 cartridge, but it can be easily converted to fire 9mm with just a barrel swap. The barrel on this kit has been demilled, but we do carry new made barrels on our website under the barrel section.
These kits were purchased directly from the Serbian Ministry of Defense weapons stockpile, making them an authentic Tito era Yugo SMG.
